But the public mood is not so simple. People are watching the same acceleration and asking what it means for jobs, trust, power, and control.

That gap matters.

AI is no longer just a technology people use. It is becoming something people live under, work beside, compete with, and depend on. The companies see opportunity. The public feels consequence. That tension may define the next phase more than any single model release.

The second pattern is infrastructure pressure. Data centers are becoming the physical body of AI, and communities are beginning to notice the cost: land, electricity, water, grid strain, and local disruption. The fourth pattern is safety moving beyond chatbots. A new concern is emerging around AI and biology, especially gene synthesis. The deeper issue is not whether AI can answer dangerous questions today. It is whether AI can make powerful biological design easier tomorrow. That is why calls for mandatory screening and traceability in gene synthesis are gaining attention.
